Magalys M. Valera, M.S.Ac., L.Ac.
Magalys is the founder and clinical director of the AHHC. As a Nationally Board Certified Acupuncturist licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey, Magalys has been trained in both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture and Japanese Style Acupuncture. She has 18 years of experience as an Acupuncturist and holds a Masters of Science in Acupuncture, and certification in Chinese herbal medicine. As part of her practice she incorporates the use of Tui Na (acupressure/Chinese body works), Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion and other needle-free treatments, as needed, to achieve optimal patient health.
Magalys uses a holistic, drug-free approach in her practice and has experience treating a myriad of conditions. She strongly believes in tapping into the body’s inner healing properties and incorporating nutritional guidance, lifestyle counseling, and aromatherapy (essential oils from organic plants) in the treatment of her patients. She believes in integrative medicine and welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with a patient’s physician in order to achieve optimal patient health. Additionally, she has been trained in constitutional facial rejuvenation acupuncture for both men and women, which addresses wrinkles and sagging of the facial muscles. The emphasis of these treatments is on combining facial acupuncture with other special acupuncture points that address premature aging.
Magalys is bilingual and bi-cultural (fluent in English and Spanish). Prior to obtaining her degree in Chinese Medicine, Magalys earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning. Her first professional career was in Strategic Planning and Program Development in hospital settings.
